This round belly mug was fired in a Japanese style wood kiln called an anagama for 8 days. A team of artists stokes the kiln with wood every 15 minutes around the clock-- the massive kiln holds 900+ pots!
There is no glaze on this piece, just wood ash that drifts through the kiln and lands on the surface of the pots. Once the kiln reaches around 2300°F the wood ash melts and creates a glaze-like surface and flashing. Each piece is unique!
Made from a durable porcelain/stoneware mix of clays, our pottery is very durable, microwave & dishwasher safe, and will last a lifetime! This mug will hold approximately 11 ounces of your favorite beverage.
